This is a follow-up to the "Import Error" thread.

I'm pretty sure that the problem is with the display of the Scene list when there are Scenes in multiple Parts. But I read a bunch of the code and couldn't discern why (I'm less than fluent in Java and this code has some strangely abbreviated SQL - which the H2 console can't interpret either).

In an empty project I created two parts, two chapters both in part 1, a scene in each chapter; no problem. Refreshed all the displayed lists and everything was great.

I moved the second chapter to part 2, refreshed the scene list, and the scene that was in this chapter disappeared.

I deleted the chapter. I got a warning that the scenes assigned to it would be moved to "no chapter", which I okayed. Refreshed the scene list again, and the disappeared scene was again visible.

I created a new second chapter in part 2, assigned the scene to it, and the scene disappeared on refresh. So I deleted the part, and was warned that the chapters in the part would also be deleted. This warning contained no mention of the scenes in the affected chapters. I went ahead with the deletion, refreshed the scene list, and the scene was back again.

 Hello Don,
Did you check the "All Parts" in the "Part" menu?
For the next version this aspect will change

Ah, that did it.

That looks like something that was probably already there when you inherited the project. So, this scolding is aimed at your predecessor...

Why is this one filter of what scenes are shown hidden on a menu item (and not visible unless there are at least two parts), when all the other scene filters are plainly visible at the top of the Scene list? And why is it not defaulting to "show everything" like the other filters do?

I never understood the purpose of the parts filtering. That's why it will no longer be the case in the V6.

Actually, now that I know it's there (in the wrong place and with the wrong default, but still, it IS there), I'm using it.

It's great for collections of related stories, such as series. Get the old story out of the way while writing the new one - but keep all the characters, locations, relationships, et cetera.

And I've found that the parts selection applies to the "Reading View" and "Book View" also, which makes its location slightly less stupid (maybe it needs to be where it is AND on the scene list - I'd go for making both places control one setting)...

... but not to the export process. Which would be helpful for series.
