oStorybook 5.00.02 on Linux Mint 18

1. The charts "Appearances of characters by date", "Appearance of characters by scene", and "Who is where, when" are sized within their tab as if the tab has the full window width, even if there is another tab (such as the Tree) taking up part of that width. This causes the right-hand end of the chart to be unreachable.

2. Several dropdown lists are still unsorted. The ones I noticed are the Character dropdown in Item Assignments, Relationships, and Memoria.

Hello Don,

1) can you send me a screen capture? You can take advantage with the "maximize" function. Indeed, the reports are designed, in principle, for full screen viewing.

2) I'll check this.

1) Never mind, I just noticed that I have TWO horizontal scrollbars on that chart, and if I don't use the bottom one there are parts of the chart I can't get on the screen even when that one tab has the full screen width to itself - but by using both I can get to everything.

(My preference would be that the scroll bars for the chart scroll only the chart, and the ones for the character list scroll only the character list... but I'm not the one writing the code.)

3. A new one.  "Reading View" seems to have a problem with handling of [square brackets] under some specific circumstances I haven't completely figured out. But I could be mistaken as to the cause... the symptom is that "Reading View" just stops at the end of a scene, even though there's more story.

The first instance, the last paragraph of the last scene shown had two sets of BBcode italics markers, one inside the other. Removing the inner set got a bunch more stuff to show.

The new last-scene had no similar issue, but removing one set of BBcode underscore markers got yet more to show... ending with a scene that had several sets of italics markers, but NOT nested. Removing them all got the whole story to show.

Note that there are still several sets of BBcode italics markers in the story... and that "Reading View" does not appear to even try to interpret or apply those markers.

1. Send me an example of text that is problematic.

3. The BBcode is not recognized, only the HTML code is recognized. That's basically how it works.

2. I don't mind the program not interpreting the BBcode... it's just that the program (apparently, I thought) trips over it sometimes and decides that it's done putting text in that view when it really has more to do.

1. I got an old version of the database, which is a lot smaller than the current version, and verified that it also has the problem. However, neither the last scene that shows in Reading View nor the next scene after that contains any square brackets, so I'm even less confident that they are part of the problem.

Unfortunately, I am not finding your email address or a link that I can use to send an attached file. (There's one more place I can look but I have to reboot my computer to look there.)

I was hoping to send the database file as an attachment.

Ah, I found a file-sharing service that will work (I think). Sending message with link in a moment.

OK, I tested youy file.

First, you could improve the view of the reading view by using the options (see File menu > File Properties, "General" tab). I have no problem with your file, but I use the latest version (the next version will be released on Friday). The origin of the dysfunction you have comes from the sixth scene, in fact, it is without date while the others have a date. This problem is fixed in the next version, at least I hope so.

You use the BBcode formatting, it is not processed by oStorybook. You could transform your BBcode using the new "Tools-Replace" function.

Thanks, and glad the problem was identified.

And no, I'm ok with the BBcode. This particular story gets posted on a forum that uses BBcode, so I want the BBcode in the text - and I don't mind if oStorybook just regards it as ordinary text.
