FS#28 - Windows-Installer fails under Windows 64-bit
Reguarding Bug-Report #26 i've got some more explanations.
Because I wasn't able to place a comment there I had to open a new bug.
The problem is NOT the JAVA-Version but the IzPack-Installer itself. I had the same problem as
N. Ahmed mentioned in Bug #26 in Java 1.7 and 1.8. As long as you have both JAVA-Editions (64bit and 32bit) installed the installer fails to start at all (error: unable to access jarfile install.jar). I traced that back to the fact, that the EXE-file tries to use the dynamic JAVA-Launcher in "C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath" which somehow fails to work.
The next problem is 64-bit itself. When launching the "install.jar" with the 64-bit version of Java the dialog to select the folder for the startmenu items won't show at all and the installation stops there without a hint.
The only way I'm currently able to install oStorybook is to unpack the install.exe to get install.jar and use the windows commandline (with administration rights) with the following command:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_66\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "<path_to_jar>\install.jar"
Oh, by the way: The link created by the Installer on the Desktop is wrong. It points to a non existant oStorybook.exe. Also the links in the startmenu are not created at all.
Some time ago you released the windows version of oStorybook with the NSIS-Installer which worked without any problem at all. If you can't figure out whats wrong in the IzPack-Installer please switch back to NSIS. Thanks!
