Sujet n°215 Problems with characters
    - par Cymru le 10/05/2021 19:20

I have problems with the characters. In version 5.05.02 it works perfectly, but in higher versions the characters tab doesn't work properly. It does not finish loading the list of characters and does not open the window to add or edit information. The rest of the tables seem to work correctly. I suppose that the number of characters influences the operation of the program. I have a total of 300 characters... I know it's a lot, but if with version 5.05.02 they worked correctly, it should also work correctly with higher versions, right?

Hello,
There is no limit to the number of characters. The only limit is the capacity of the system to store the necessary data in memory. So I guess there is an anomaly on one of the characters. To diagnose it, you should launch oStorybook in console mode and check that there is no error message. To do that you have to execute the command:
java -jar oStorybook.jar --trace > /home/cymru/log.txt

You will have to be in the oStorybook installation folder first. The file "/home/cymru/log.txt" will contain the trace of what happens. Instead of "/home/cymru/" you can put the folder of your choice. Then send me the log file.

The other solution is to send me your file so that I do the manipulation.

This is what I get:oStorybook 5.05.03Storybook execution in trace modeAssistant from bundled file
I guess I must not have done it right.
I will continue with version 5.04.05d, when I move the project to version 5.05.02 it changes the formatting, removing the bold and the hyphens.I will wait for version 6. Thanks for the work.

You get a consistent result. Indeed "Storybook execution in trace mode" indicates that the "--trace" parameter has been taken into account. On the other hand if you have no other message it means that the problem is hidden.

By staying at version 5.04.05d you are missing the improvements that I publish regularly. It is regrettable. I suggest you send me your file so that I can try to find out what is wrong.

It's up to you.
