Attempting to launch 4.10 in Linux Mint 17 fails: the splash screen is displayed briefly. I have checked my Java version and it is V7, update 79. I installed the .deb application, not the .bin.

Install seemed to be fine. I'm not great with Linux, so if anyone can help me to get the program running, I'd be very grateful.

(I tested the release in Win 7 on a VirtualBox, and all seemed fine.)

Regards,

Michael P

4.10.0 (and 4.10.1) are starting OK for me in Xubuntu 15.04, using Java 1.8.0_60-b27.

A useful diagnostic in linux is to start a program from a terminal; one gets some diagnostics in that window. Open a terminal and type "ostorybook" (no quotes).

I suspect you need to upgrade your Java to version 8.

Thanks Rory.

Below is a response from attempting to launch oStorybook from terminal:
java version "1.7.0_79"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.5.6) (7u79-2.5.6-0ubuntu1.14.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.79-b02, mixed mode)
starting oStorybook ...

done.

I used the instructions here:

http://tecadmin.net/install-oracle-java-8-jdk-8-ubuntu-via-ppa/

- to perform the update, and oStorybook now launches.

Thanks again for your help, Rory.
